Helena Aung
Founder
Dr. Helena Aung, founder of the Piano Proficiency Academy, is a dedicated educator, accomplished performer, and passionate advocate for innovative music instruction. She has taught the Piano Proficiency Course for undergraduates at both the University of Arkansas and the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, and since 2024, she has served as a Sessional Lecturer at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver.

In addition to her performances and research, Dr. Aung is deeply committed to nurturing the next generation of pianists. Her students have achieved recognition at both national and international levels, a testament to her ability to adapt her teaching methods to meet the unique needs of each learner. Through her newly established Innovative Piano Program, she continues to explore creative approaches to music education, incorporating online platforms and forward-thinking pedagogy to support student growth in the competitive world of piano performance.
Dr. Aung also shares her expertise as a judge for the Charleston International Music Competition, where she evaluates talented young musicians from around the globe.
Xun (Richard) Xu
Director
Xun is the Director of Piano Proficiency Academy, where he helps musicians and music educators develop practical piano skills to enrich their teaching and careers. He also served as Violin Instructor and Collaborative Artist in Residence at Orpheus Academy of Music in Austin, Texas. Previously, he contributed to music education as an Artist in Residence at South Dakota State University.

Xun earned his Doctor of Musical Arts in Violin Performance from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, where he completed his Master of Music. His earlier education includes a Bachelor of Arts from the China Conservatory of Music and graduate study at Western Michigan University.
Jonalyn Molina
Web Designer
Jonalyn "Jonie" Molina is a skilled website designer from the Philippines and the creative force behind this website. Specializing in crafting visually engaging and user-friendly websites, Jonie blends design expertise with technical proficiency to deliver seamless online experiences. After spending 9 years working at a stockbroker company, she shifted her career to web design and now enjoys helping small businesses grow their online presence.
In her free time, Jonie enjoys reading books, volunteering for youth programs, and exploring local cafes where she can relax and have meaningful conversations with her husband, family, and friends.
